Cashless payments at your festival

Tokens, Eventcards or card payments on one system, also without internet. What it costs, how to set it up and what happens to unspent balance.

What are cashless payments at a festival?

Cashless means no physical money changes hands at the bar. Visitors pay with a token, an Eventcard or simply their card or phone, and the register settles it on the spot. For the organiser that removes cash transport, the safe, counting up afterwards and the risk of money going missing.

On events of any size it has become the norm. The question is usually not whether to go cashless, but in which form, and what happens when the network fails.

Three forms, one system

Tokens are the fastest at the bar and the most familiar to the crowd. Eventcards are RFID or NFC cards and wristbands that settle a round in under a second, with the balance held on the card. Card payments are contactless, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and need no preparation from the visitor.

You do not have to choose. At Whizz-kit all three run on the same point-of-sale system and you set per bar which ones are active.

What cashless costs and what it returns

Cost depends on the number of registers, the chosen form and the length of your event. Cards and tokens carry a unit price; the registers are rented per day. Because every festival differs we quote per event rather than publishing a rate.

On the return side there is speed: the token system delivers on average 7.6 percent more bar revenue because queues move faster and fewer mistakes are made.

What happens to balance left unspent

This is the question visitors ask most often afterwards. Whizz-kit lets you set a refund window: visitors scan the QR code on their card or receipt, enter their bank details and get the remainder back.

You decide how long that window stays open and whether a fee applies. Whatever you choose, state it clearly on site.

If the site has no coverage, read how our offline POS system keeps selling when the network drops.

For a one-off event you can rent a cashless payment system including on-site installation and support.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly are cashless payments at a festival?

Settling without physical money: with a token, an Eventcard or contactless by card or phone. The register processes the transaction on the spot, also without internet.

Do cashless payments work without internet?

Yes. The system is offline-first: transactions are processed locally and sync automatically once the connection returns. There is no limit on time or revenue.

What does a cashless payment system cost?

It depends on the number of registers, the payment form and the length of your event. We quote per event; a consultation is free of obligation.

Can I rent a cashless payment system?

Yes, per event, including on-site installation and support.

Are cashless cards the same as tokens?

No. A cashless card or Eventcard carries a balance you can top up and reclaim. A token is a single payment item with a fixed value.

What happens to a balance a visitor does not spend?

You set a refund window yourself. Visitors scan the QR code on their card or receipt and receive the remainder in their bank account.
